I must admit I loved reading this thread.
At the end of the day Eve will always generate this type of debate. Whether it be T2 production or any type of production.
Person A : I make X% profit on selling item Y.
Person B : But you can make 3 times that on selling item Y
Person A : Ha But Im making a profit anyway.
It is nigh on impossible, imho, that you can teach someone, that there is a difference between a) making a profit and b) maximizing a profit. To them making a profit is all that counts.
Any how back to doing stuff

Burn : Yes I can see how people value volume of sales over quality of sale. And a lot of producers out there go for that factor.
However, at at the end of the day .I think its down to individual playing style and time available to play. ( eg Have you got the time to keep making the items for quick turnover and how many items do you actually make etc etc etc.)
The build time requirements I doubt will change . The penalties to ships in stacking etc may change no doubt. (lets face it rockets and lights are next to useless as they stand imho.)
You initial idea about buying a BS Bpo and researching it then re selling I doubt will work. There are lots of them out there and courtesy of Bpc's the Bs market is virtually dead with very little hope of recovering your outlay of the Bpo.
If you are hoping to sell all you items via the market especially in hubs systems then I believe you are going to struggle. Approach alliances / corps that are in conflict and use your sales pitch. I sell most of my t2 missles via personal escrow deals. btw So I get the best of both worlds.
Hope this helps - Not that my ramblings usually do

The anwser to your initial question is b ) 150
ok now to nitty gritty - I mean no direspect but Ill just point out a few areas where you diatribe is some what out of sync.
You are assuming people bought the Bpo.
"For BPO owners, the selling price is (well should be) totally irrelevant." - err are we talking about the cost of the Bpo or cost per item ? Item COSTS 200 isk to build so Ill sell it at 20 .?????
Why should any one build anything in Jita ? Sorry bud but I build outside jita( well over 350 different items) . I charge out side the "jita "price and I sell a lot of it. so your arguement with regards to " Sheepsville" doesnt hold water.
Your agreement on making the Bpo work for you and not work for the Bpo of course makes sense but I had already stated that with regards to time available to play.
Ammo is not a good item to sell in a hub, period - Its simple really, but If you want to carrry on selling there go ahead. (Hint- people are not going to travel 6-36 jumps to buy ammo saving a few isk here or there )
Hauling doenst come into it - as you the producer contacts the "!Bulk User and sells direct to them " - Yes at a lower price than you sell on the market for . but better than the current market price.
"I can haul the items from Jita to your selling point, and make exactly as much as you"- Derr no you cant ! . you have stated that item A costs 50 and sells for 100 yet you believe without the Bpo you can make the same ? So you pay the person 100% profit and sell at a higher price - its called reselling bud and you still cant make the same amount of isk.
Good luck in your venture , But your sales pitch leaves something to be desired ..

Congrats on begining to Maximise your profit btw.
Just as a side note .. what would you do if player "X" appears on the scene and uses your initial business accumen and sells at 400. One who doesnt learn and adapt and continues to sell at just above cost because they are making a profit ?
